For the Bobcats in Need

The Texas State Alumni Association will be giving away Boko Banks in the LBJ Student Center Mall Nov. 10 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The banks are used to help students collect spare change and donate it to support Student Emergency Services, which provides limited monetary aid to students in situations such as apartment fires and natural disasters. Students who already have Boko Banks can also drop off their donations at this time.

 

For the Local Hero’s

The Dean of Students Office will host a Veterans Day Commemorative Event in conjunction with the Texas State Student Foundation in the Quad on Nov. 11 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. According to the University Events Calendar, the occasion will feature comments from a prominent speaker on behalf of one of the military branches, President Denise Trauth, a presentation of the Armed Forces Medley and a military flyover. The event is free and open to the public.

 

For the Wine Connoisseur

The Hays County Historical Courthouse will be featured at the Wine and Wassail Walk on Nov. 13 in downtown San Marcos.

The third annual Wine and Wassail Walk will take place Nov. 13 on the Square. The event, which benefits the San Marcos Main Street Program and United Way of Hays County, will feature a tour of downtown businesses. The businesses plan to serve a variety of wines, wassail and light snacks. According to the event’s Facebook page, participants can enjoy live music and the gift of a commemorative wine glass while browsing downtown shops. Tickets to the 21-and-over event are $25 and can be purchased on the event website.

 

For the Art Fan

Stonewall Warehouse will be hosting a night of live art and music Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. Over 14 local artists will transform the walls of the nightclub into art galleries while DJ Brubaker provides music. The event is free for Bobcats 21 and over and $5 for anyone under 21.
