San Marcos Cemetery Oct. 14
The San Marcos City Cemetery will host its fourth annual Tales and Tours Oct. 17 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The tour highlights stories of men and women who helped transform the local community. The cemetery is home to war veterans from as early as the War of 1812 and features a carpenter gothic chapel built in 1894. Tickets to the event are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Homebrew Supply will be hosting an evening of comedy at their San Marcos location Oct. 17 at 9 p.m. The event, which is hosted by Jack Neil, will feature headliner Maggie Maye, who is known for her appearance on Conan. Other comedians making an appearance during the show include Nicholas Aluotto, Sam Slade and Jose Bedoy. Doors for the event open at 8 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to pay what they can afford for admission.
For the Runner with a Cause
The Annual Pink Heals Hays County 5K and Kids 1K will take place Oct. 18 at River Ridge Business Park. All of the profits raised will stay in the community to help local women and their families in the fight against breast cancer. Online registration for the event is currently closed, but community members interested in participating can still sign up on the day of the race for a $35 entry fee.
